After learning that our bid was accepted for our property, one of the first things I had mention to Paul is that I wanted to set up a blog. A blog to chronicle our transition from Cleveland to San Pedro and everything in-between. Coming up with a name came easy to us. We tossed around a few ideas for names, but CLE2SPR just felt right. As you’ve probably guessed, CLE is the airport code for Cleveland and SPR is for the tiny, one gate airport in San Pedro.
Get a load of this:
- my father was a photographer (it has greatly rubbed off onto me!)
- I went to school for fashion merchandising (you know, dressing mannequins and doing window displays)
- after 13 years of that, I went back to school again to become (what is now my current profession) a sign language interpreter
I’m not ashamed to admit it. I’ve failed college algebra. Twice. I’m a visual person through and through…I truly feel it courses through my veins! So when it came time to come up with a logo for my unchartered waters into the blogosphere, I wanted something that just really popped and reflected the intent of this blog. I’m on several Belize related Facebook groups and in early October, a (then) stranger named Larry posted that he, his girlfriend Margo, their dog named Guy and 6 bags were on the tarmac at the airport headed for San Pedro. I truly feel crossing paths with Margo was just simple karma and it just felt right to have her work her graphic magic to come up with what I had stuck in my head.
I had a few ideas tossing around in my head and “drew” them out. I’m no artiste, but what I had dreamed up along with Margo’s fantastic ideas, I’m beyond thrilled of the outcome! I wanted the look and feel of the transition from city to beach and the stellar aqua colored water to show through on the logos. Being born and raised in Cleveland, I also wanted something to represent one of our landmark buildings… the Terminal Tower!
So there you have it! This blog is pretty much going to have far and few posts until it’s the yet to be determined “go time.” Until then, save up for airfare so you can come visit and stay with us and I’ll brush up on the unnecessary use of algebra. And Margo, see you guys at the Palapa Bar in 31 days!
